The KR System
basics
The KR system is based around the philosophy of “soft foam for figures, hard cases for soft foam”. Other transport systems for miniature figures use hard foam
and hard tray bases as they use a soft bag system and need the trays to strong enough to stack in tall piles, and additionaly require that the trays are always horizontal
as the figures need to have space between them and the hard base of the tray above. The hard foam and tray base is not good for figure protection, hence we
designed a system where the figures are protected in soft foam. This soft high tensile foam cares much better for your figures as it does not damage the paint
finish, and you can fit a larger figure in a smaller compartment as the foam has enough natural flexibility to deform around the figure and support it.
This means that the case can be carried or stored in any orientation (flat, side on, even upside down!) because the tray bases in KR trays are the same foam as the
tray itself, so your figures have full protection.
This enabled us to design a hard case system so that the trays would be supported, and this in turn created the unique and versatile KR system of
interchangeable card cases within a transport bag. All the cases in the KR range are based on our standard size case, we call that 1 KRU (KR Unit), which
can carry up to 200 28mm troops or a combination or troops and vehicles etc. All the KR cases are combinations of this standard size of case, for example the
double aluminium carries the contents of 2 , the triple 3 and so on. Likewise the Kaiser transport bag system carries multiples of the card cases, the Kaiser2
carrying two of them, the Kaiser3 three of them and so on. The card cases are interchangeable with each other. You can have a stack of card cases keeping your figures
safe, and just take the army you need in the Kaiser when going out.
which trays suit me best?
There are 2 main tray categories - Core or Custom. The core trays are a combination of pre-cut troop trays or precut segmented pick&pluck trays. Combinations of these
trays forms a versatile solution to carrying varying collections of vehicles and troops. The custom trays are cut for specific figures and vehicles and are the perfect
option for many armies.
There are a number of aids to help you select the best trays for your army, look at the
TraySelector
to help you fill a standard size case (KRU),
tray printouts
to printout the core tray formats to compare your figures against, and the
custom tray reference sheets
available for specific armies.
There are 2 other KR tray designs, the 610 range suitable for 6-10mm scale armies and the railway range designed for for N and OO gauge railways.
how to choose a case
Cases are chosen based on your army scale, type and size. The menu system covers many popular armies, and has pre-selected sets for them. Alternatively
the “KR Cases and Sets” menu gives you the choice by size or type of case and then you can fill it with ready-made sets for troops, troops & vehicles, cavalry etc.
the card KR Multicase
The standard card KR Multicase forms the basis of a unique and versatile transport system for your army. The interchangeable system means that when used in
combination with the large range of transport bags and cases from KR that your collection is kept safe. Expansion or changes to additional or multiple armies is a
simple and efficient process as you only need to purchase more of the card KR Multicases! The case is made from solid KLC heavy duty dense card, the same as is
used for commercial archiving of documents. It is not made from cheaper and inferior corrugated card as this just is not up to the job. It is very durable
and incredibly protective. The wrap around lid provides all round protection and the injection moulded plastic handle forms the snaplock for the KR Multicase
to provide a securely closed case the instant it is closed. This ensures the contents are safe from spilling out and can be transported with ease.
the Kaiser transport bag system
The Kaiser transport bag system means an economical and safe system for carrying multiples of the standard card cases.
The Kaiser1 carries one of them,
the Kaiser2 two of them, and so on. The card cases are interchangeable with each other, so you can select the army you need from a stack of card cases
keeping your figures safe, and just take the army you need in the Kaiser when going out.
By having one transport bag with interchangeable cases it means that your
army expansion is much more economical as you only need additional card cases for your army and swap them over when you need to take them out – a true storage and
transport system!
backpacks
The versatile backpack system from KR means that you can carry up to 2 of the standard card cases with ease. The additional front and side pockets give you
plenty of room for rulebooks, accessories and even drinks and sandwiches. And of course if you are not needing it for gaming you can simply use it as a backpack!
It offers these features:
- single version for 1 case
- double version has expandable section for 2nd case
- carry up to 2 card KR Multicases
- or combine a case plus your clothes, shoes, accessories
- large comfortable shoulder straps for easy travel
- large pockets for books, accessories etc
- 2 large side pockets for drinks etc
- elasticated mesh for large items
- ergonomic and stylish design
- chest and waist clips for cyclists and bikers
- fully waterproof
- ideal carry-on luggage for airlines
aluminium cases
The aluminium case range has snap closing lockable catches, a carry handle, a fully adjustable shoulder strap, a self adhesive label holder and is stackable.
The feet match into the recessed aluminium outer panel to prevent one case from sliding off another when stacked on top of one another. The interior is fully
lined with a soft touch lining, so if you decide to carry anything loose then it is well cared for too. The case can be labelled as the exterior is smooth aluminium,
so you can easily stick army descriptions, or pictures to them. The wheeled aluminium range carries multiples of the card cases.
prestige cases
For those large and valuable models in your collection we have a range of cases with custom cut trays to keep them safe when transported. The trays in
these cases are designed to support and protect your models, and are our “constructed trays”, which feature varying depths to fully support your models.
